Across the OneSchool Global network, staff are responsible for designing accurate, rubric-aligned and tailored assignments across year levels and subject areas, totalling approximately 4,000 assignments worldwide. Each assignment requires extensive research, quality assurance and formal approval prior to release, taking up to an hour per assignment.
As curriculum updates continued and demand for new assignments remained high, the manual effort involved in review and approval created growing administrative pressure for curriculum teams. This increased turnaround times, limited scalability and made it more difficult to maintain consistency across a large and globally distributed teaching model.
For OneSchool Global, there was a clear opportunity to support educators with a more efficient review process while maintaining the academic oversight and quality standards that sit at the heart of its learning model.
Solution
After hearing about other Copilot solutions introduced within the organisation, the teaching team at OneSchool Global identified an opportunity to streamline the Assignment review process. Following internal discussions, an early prototype was created by a staff member, Damien Jordon, in North America. That initial concept helped demonstrate how the process could be improved and provided the blueprint for a broader solution.
Building on that foundation, OneSchool Global worked with Engage Squared to develop and implement the Assignment Review Copilot Agent. Engage Squared helped take the original concept through to a production-ready solution, supporting the design, build and implementation of the agent using Microsoft Copilot Studio, with integrations into the Canvas LMS API and SharePoint.
Educators share a link to their online course, and the solution gathers the course content. The educators then choose exactly which pages should be included in the Assignment, so they stay in control and only review the relevant material.
The system checks the selected pages against the school’s standards and marking criteria. Teachers can review and adjust the feedback as needed before a completed marking rubric is automatically created in Word. Each review is recorded including what was reviewed, who reviewed it, and the results, making it easy to track quality, consistency, and performance over time.
Results
The Assignment Review Agent built using Copilot Studio is changing the way educators develop, review and personalise assignments to students globally. By reducing an admin heavy process from 1 hour to 15 minutes they are able to provide more time, care and support to the people who really matter.
The value from this agent can be seen in three core areas:
- 375 days of time back to teachers: This agent saves teachers and educators 3,000 hours (375 days) by slashing administrative effort of reviewing assignments, giving time back to what matters the most – the students.
- 90% accuracy, supported by educator oversight: When cross-referenced by experienced curriculum educators, the agent delivers around 90% accuracy. Human review remains an important part of the process, ensuring assignments are refined, personalised and approved before release.
- 75% efficiency gain per assignment review: Reduces administrative effort turning an hour-long review process into a 15-minute task delivering a 75% efficiency gain against the fully manual process.
Beyond these measurable outcomes, OneSchool Global now has greater visibility into assignment quality across its global network. This supports targeted training, continuous improvement and stronger consistency across the organisation’s digital curriculum.
