Although Microsoft Build is now over, we still have more feature updates and announcements rolling out! This month looks at our top 5 must-knows for this month.

1. Microsoft Teams: Change background while recording on phone

What’s new?

Microsoft Teams on iOS devices will allow users to change their background to any image or blur it while recording.

Why is this important?

Constantly on the go and joining from your mobile device? This new feature is fantastic to change your background to a static background image then opting for the blurred effect when your camera is on for a meeting.

When is it coming?

Originally scheduled to roll out in March 2024, this feature roll out is currently underway with expected completion by early September, 2024.

2. Microsoft Intune: support for User Enrolment with Company Portal for iOS/iPadOS ending

What’s new?

Microsoft Intune will stop supporting User Enrollment with Company Portal for iOS/iPadOS after the release of iOS/iPadOS 18. Existing devices remain unaffected, but new enrolments won’t be supported.

Why is this important?

With the upcoming release of iOS/iPadOS 18, Apple will no longer support profile based User Enrolment. Due to these changes, Intune will end support for Apple User Enrolment with Company Portal shortly after the release of iOS/iPadOS 18. We recommend enrolling devices with account driven User Enrolment for similar functionality and an improved user experience. Learn more about how you can use account driven User Enrolment here or try the new web-based enrolment here.

When is it coming?

As your Apple devices are updated with iOS/iPadOS 18, this end-of-support will be instantaneous. We recommend to plan ahead and prepare for any changes that may occur especially with existing devices.

What’s new?

Previously limited to Global administrators, User and License admins will soon manage self-service license requests in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

Why is this important?

This feature update will bring a uniform experience with other Microsoft Entra portals in which these roles can assign licenses, such as the Microsoft Entra Admin Center, Intune Admin Center, and Azure Portal. Learn more about how to manage self-service licence requests here.

When is it coming?
