Melbourne, Australia — May 1, 2024 — Engage Squared is proud to be named within the 2024 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work list for ‘Technology’. The awards celebrate the achievements of the best small, medium and large organisations and nine sector winners from Australia and New Zealand. To date, this is Engage Squared’s third time featuring in the prestigious list.
Engage Squared placed 4th in the list – their highest ranking to date. It was their ‘Fertility Coverage Benefit‘ which impressed judges for the company’s commitment to helping their employees start a family. The benefit contributes up to $5,000 for fertility treatments for staff who are struggling to have a child naturally. Covered services can include medical intervention, procedures, and other family planning services. The benefit was spearheaded by Co-Founder and Director, Tom Hiscutt, who had experienced fertility struggles prior to welcoming his daughter in 2022 and witnessed first hand the financial burden.

Since the policy was first introduced five people across the company’s 70 staff in Australia have taken up the fertility funding. Staff retention at the company has also risen from 80 per cent to 94 per cent.
“It’s all about attracting and retaining the right people. We know we’ve been able to keep at least half a dozen people engaged and happy as a result of this. Our retention numbers have been increasing positively over the last couple of years. It’s not this policy alone that’s been the driver of that, but it certainly hasn’t gone the wrong way.” – Tom Hiscutt.
The company first featured in the 2021 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work list for their ‘Community & Culture‘ initiatives which saw them place 13th for helping their dispersed workforce come together throughout the pandemic.
In 2022 after demonstrating that technology connected their employees regardless of location, their ‘Work from Anywhere‘ policy saw the company place 9th. To date, there are still no requirements of where employees are located with the company committed to ‘hiring the right person for the right role, regardless of location’. This initiative has also allowed existing employees to move around the world without leaving the organisation.
