Microsoft’s Global Employee Experience partner of the year, Engage Squared, is excited to announce the official launch of its new office in Tokyo, Japan. The expansion into Japan represents the growing demand from businesses of all sizes to improve operations, uplift employee engagement and experience through Microsoft technology

Global benchmarking reports show that only 68% of employees in Japan are engaged with their work and the average eNPS score (employee net promotor) for organisations is 11 (which is in the bottom 16% compared with other countries). Areas such as decision making, service quality & focus, and company performance were all given low ratings by employees. These numbers are backed by Microsoft’s most recent Work Trend Index report which highlighted the growing complexity that companies face because of hybrid and remote work. Employees have a new ‘worth it’ equation, priorities have shifted, and people are voting with their feet with more than half of the 31,000 people surveyed reporting leaving their current employer in the next 12 months.

Of course, these challenges represent an opportunity for leaders to re-define the way they do business through modern technology. The Japanese Government realizes the need for Digital Transformation (DX) and is making efforts to lead the way, starting with the formation of the Digital Agency in September 2021.  Specifically, there is a strong opportunity to invest in solutions such as Microsoft 365 and Viva and leverage the benefits of big data and AI to streamline business operations and create better experiences for employees. Engage Squared will support transformations at Japanese businesses with their consulting services across digital workplace, business applications, information management, and change management.

The Tokyo branch will be managed by Michael Cashen, who joins Engage Squared as Country Manager, with over 18 years’ experience within the IT industry in Japan, and Co-Founder Nobuyuki Tsuji who has more than 20 years’ experience working with top consulting firms across New York, Melbourne, Manila, and Tokyo.

“Over the last few years, we have seen the focus on digital employee experience continue to grow” said Michael Cashen, Country Manager at Engage Squared Japan. “What’s interesting is that the focus is coming from outside of IT, as more businesses start to explore how they can use products like Viva Insights to better support their people. That’s the differentiator we see with Engage Squared entering the Japan market. We are the global leaders when it comes to employee experience, and we love being able to create a positive impact through modern technology. It’s great to be able to offer these services to more businesses across Japan and Asia, and we feel that our company’s speciality in ‘<people> friendly technology’ will be a valuable enabler in successful digital transformations in Japan.”

Through this expansion, Engage Squared will continue to work closely with Microsoft to help customers take advantage of the latest and greatest in Microsoft’s modern work technologies.
